So Cataclysm has been announced, a specific date has yet to be set but we do know it is targeted for 2010 nothing more and nothing less, it is just a target for Blizzard to work towards, so limit the QQ’s if we do not see Cataclysm this year. Again, rumors are saying it will be realeased at the end of Summer, please bare in mind these are rumors, do not get your heart set on a date and find it doesn’t come out at that time, it is best to wait for Blizzard to officially announce a date to avoid any disappointment.
Just to clear up one thing as a lot of people have asked either in Wow forums or on Forums somewhere. When Cataclysm occurs it will occur for all players, you will be able to play in the new zones of Azeroth, however, certain aspects will be unavailable until you have purchased the expansion.
Flying Mounts in Azeroth
So this could be awesome except one thing, one thing I enjoy in World of Warcraft is hanging around Goldshire with mates, trying to get up onto the houses, getting on top of Stormwind roof, flying mounts will take this fun away from me and many others. Blizzard are redesigning the continents of Azeroth with Flying mounts in mind and are also determining whether they will make any restrictions on where you will be able to fly, at what level flying will become available, or whether you’ll need to do anything to unlock it.
New Class Combinations
Horde
Alliance
Nearly all the game’s original zones are being altered to some degree, but the extent of the changes varies by zone. The barrens are going to be split into two, one side for low level players and the other for high level players. Azshara is going to be a new low-level zone for Horde, It is connected to Orgrimmar.
New Zones for Level 80 or higher players
Uldum.
The Sunken City of Vashj’ir: The new underwater city containing the entrance to Abyssal Maw.
Deepholm.
Mount Hyjal: Containing the Gateway to The Firelands.
Twilight Highlands.
Level Cap
Blizzard have said they raised the level cap to 85 not 90 because they want to focus more on end-game content, Blizzard may be planning on more expansions before hitting the level 100 cap.
Goblins
Deathwing once again sought the services of the goblins, as slaves. Unable to refuse such an offer, the goblins were enslaved by him. A large group have resisted however. With their earlier homes devastated by the cataclysm, they escaping to an island off the coast of The Barrens. As they strive to recover, they come across an Orc captured on an Alliance ship and rescue him. The Orc turns out to be none other than Thrall himself, and in return offers the Goblins a place within the Horde. These events are carried out in a quest line, allowing players to experience first-hand the reasons behind the Goblins’ shift from neutrality.
Worgen
The cataclysm has cracked open the Greymane Wall, finally revealing what has happened to the kingdom of Gilneas and its citizens. With the Worgen curse taken hold, they have found a partial cure, allowing them to keep their Human minds even when transformed. Venturing forth from Gilneas and seeking help from the Alliance, they have decided to join them, to combat the new threats of Cataclysm.
New Hero Class
Unfortunately we will not be seeing a new hero class in this expansion, but this tells us, well most of us knew anyway, that Blizzard have more expansions for us, as when they bought the Death Knight out they said this is our FIRST hero class.
I am sure we are all looking forward to the release of Cataclysm and will be experiencing Blizzards best expansion yet very soon.
