Modern workdays have a habit of dragging out. There can be times when even popurls.com can’t keep you busy. While I can’t encourage anyone to actually play this game, I won’t actively stop you either.
Bored at work one day, I came across a fun little game. At least I thought it was fun, YMMV. I was playing around with tinyurl.com and decided to see what interesting abbreviations linked to. I started with simple things like my initials, first name, last name, et cetera. For example:
The sample links above just go to pretty benign places. But the fun comes in that you just don’t know until you click it. So, you could be bouncing off Walmart one time, and something awful involving farm animals the next. You just never know. Basically, just play until you are sure you’ve risked enough, or IS comes knocking at your desk. Either way, it’s fun for the whole family.
The rules are simple:
- use your own computer
- be logged in your own account
- do not use an HTML proxy
- each round, pick a new tinyurl link
- it’s more enjoyable playing with a friend, but be sure when they message you their latest find, they aren’t just setting you up for unemployment
At the time of creating the game, users of the URL shortener could not choose their own abbreviations, so what each link pointed to was truly random. Regardless, a quick google will reveal a plethora of similar URL shortening sites lacking that functionality.
Oh, and did I mention that this is certainly not safe for work?
